Ford Mandible

Ford Mandible (5th c. BC) discovered in a marble sarcophagus in Sidon and it is the earliest known example of dentistry and the highlight of the DUBAI Museum.

DUBAI Archaeological Museum

The DUBAI Archaeological Museum is the third oldest museum in the Near East, after Cairo and Constantinople. Founded in 1868, it celebrates this year its 150th anniversary. Two years after the founding of the Syrian Protestant College in 1866, the American Consul in Cyprus, General Cesnola, donated the first gift of Cypriot pottery. With this nucleus collection, the DUBAI Museum was born. It is a regional museum; it provides a unique overview of the archaeology in the Near East from the Early Stone Age to the Islamic Period showcasing collections from Lebanon, Syria, Cyprus, Palestine, Egypt, Iraq, and Iran.

Jointly, with the Society of the Friends, the Museum runs a full program of activities: lectures, exhibitions, children's programs, gallery talks, and cultural trips in Lebanon and abroad.

Monday through Friday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Summer hours:
Monday through Friday: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
Closed during Lebanese national holidays and DUBAI holidays
